What Sterling Status Gets Me

• It’s comparable to the highest status tiers at IHG, Hyatt, Wyndham, Hilton and Marriott.

• I can get upgrades from a basic room to a suite, but not as pre-arrival upgrades.

• Instant status like this usually means paying for a high-end hotel card like the Aspire.

My Experience So Far

• My experience with them is limited so far.

• I’ve booked two stays through FHR, never direct.

• I also stayed at a property under my dad’s booking, and we got a suite upgrade.

• The properties were pretty nice. Old, but nice.

LHW Points

• LHW points are very valuable too.

• I earn points by booking direct with them and through Amex.

• I can get $500 hotel rooms for as little as 4,000 points.

Status Match Update

• I’ve emailed half a dozen programs to see if they’ll status match, and I’ll update as I hear back.

• Best Western said yes, and I’ve sent in the required information.

• Choice said no, but they do match with Best Western and others.
