American Express has expanded the Platinum Card’s $600 hotel credit to cover Airbnb, and renamed it the Lodging Credit. The change applies to both the personal Platinum Card and the Business Platinum Card. It also adds a new Airbnb Experiences credit and a stricter minimum-stay rule starting January 1, 2027.

Benefit Value Key condition
Lodging Credit Up to $300 twice a year ($600 total) Prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts, The Hotel Collection, or Airbnb Luxe booking through Amex Travel
Airbnb Experiences credit Up to $250 per calendar year Unlocked after a prepaid Airbnb Luxe booking through Amex Travel
Points on Airbnb 5 Membership Rewards points per dollar Prepaid Airbnb bookings through Amex Travel

How the Lodging Credit Works With Airbnb

A statement credit is money Amex refunds to your card account after an eligible purchase. The Lodging Credit comes in two halves: up to $300 from January through June and up to $300 from July through December. Unused credit does not roll over.

The home must be part of Airbnb Luxe, the platform’s high-end collection. Regular listings do not qualify. You need to book a prepaid stay of at least two nights through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel app and link your Airbnb account to your Amex account. Luxe homes often start around $1,000 a night, so the credit covers only a small share of most stays. Luxe bookings also do not include the room upgrades, property credits, and late checkout that come with Fine Hotels + Resorts.

The New $250 Airbnb Experiences Credit

Airbnb Experiences are activities hosted by locals, for example cooking classes, guided tours, or paddleboarding. Once a qualifying Luxe booking is confirmed, you can book Experiences directly on Airbnb and get up to $250 back through the end of that calendar year. There is no minimum purchase, and the credit unlocks even if you don’t apply the Lodging Credit to the Luxe stay.

If you unlock it in 2026, you must buy your Experiences by December 31, 2026, though the activity itself can take place in 2027.

The Two-Night Rule Starting in 2027

Until now, a single night at a Fine Hotels + Resorts property could trigger the credit. From January 1, 2027, every use of the Lodging Credit will require at least two nights. One-night stays will still get Fine Hotels + Resorts perks, just not the credit.

Amex applies the credit based on when the prepaid charge is processed, not when you travel. If you still have part of your July to December 2026 credit, a prepaid one-night Fine Hotels + Resorts booking paid before year-end should still qualify, even for a stay in early 2027. Read the booking terms before paying, since prepaid rates are often nonrefundable.
