Torq has moved fast from SOAR challenger to AI SOC contender. That shift has pulled it onto plenty of shortlists, and it has also sent buyers looking at Torq alternatives to make sure they are choosing the right model for their team.
How Torq works
Torq started out as a no-code hyperautomation tool, pitched as a friendlier replacement for traditional SOAR. Today it calls itself an AI SOC platform. Its orchestrator, Socrates, directs specialised agents known as HyperAgents through triage, investigation, case handling and remediation, and it can turn a plain-English request into a working workflow.
What pushes teams to compare
Torq is at its best when there are people to design and maintain automations. Teams without automation engineers often want something that investigates well straight away, with less building required.
Some buyers also want the platform to bring its own data layer and detections, rather than orchestrating on top of a SIEM they already pay for.
Five Torq alternatives
For a wider view of the market, see our guide to AI SOC vendors.
| Option | How it works | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Exaforce | Agentic SOC with its own data platform, plus MDR | Teams that want end-to-end coverage without building workflows |
| Intezer | AI triage grounded in forensic analysis | Endpoint and phishing-heavy queues |
| Dropzone AI | AI analyst for Tier 1 investigations | Adding AI triage to an existing stack |
| ReliaQuest GreyMatter | Agentic platform with managed options | Enterprises wanting a service partner too |
| Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSIAM | AI-driven SOC platform including XSOAR | Large Palo Alto estates |
Exaforce and context-first investigation
Instead of starting from playbooks, Exaforce starts from the environment. Events are matched at ingest to a semantic model of users, machines, resources and their links, alongside a behavioural model of what normal looks like. Its Exabot agents reason over that context, so far fewer steps need to be scripted by hand.
Choosing between them
If you have strong automation skills and lots of bespoke processes, Torq’s workflow depth is a real asset. If engineering time is scarce, measure how much each option delivers with very little setup.
A trial on a few weeks of genuine alerts will show the gap quickly, especially in how many cases still land on an analyst’s desk.
