If you have an American Express Business Platinum Card, there’s a relatively new benefit worth knowing about—especially if you already use AI for your business.
Eligible American Express Business Platinum Card Members can enroll to receive up to $300 in statement credits per calendar year on eligible U.S. purchases of ChatGPT Business.
That can substantially offset the cost of bringing ChatGPT into your business.
The Amex Chat-GPT Credit

American Express offers eligible Business Platinum Card Members up to $300 per calendar year in statement credits for U.S. purchases of ChatGPT Business.
There are two details that are particularly important:
You need to enroll in the Amex benefit first. Simply paying for ChatGPT without enrolling may not qualify you for the statement credit.
Second, the benefit is specifically for ChatGPT Business, rather than an ordinary individual ChatGPT Plus subscription.
Once enrolled, make an eligible ChatGPT Business purchase using your qualifying American Express Business Platinum Card. Eligible charges can then receive statement credits, up to the benefit’s annual limit.
Terms and eligibility requirements apply, so check the current benefit details in your American Express account before subscribing.
What About the $20-a-Month ChatGPT Plan?

This is where things can get confusing.
ChatGPT Plus currently costs $20 per month, or $240 over 12 months at the standard monthly price.
Plus gives individual users expanded access compared with the free ChatGPT plan, including higher limits and access to additional models, reasoning capabilities and tools.
However, you shouldn’t assume that paying $20 per month for ChatGPT Plus will automatically trigger the Amex ChatGPT Business credit.
The American Express benefit is advertised specifically for qualifying ChatGPT Business purchases.
Is There a $250 ChatGPT Credit?
You may have seen references to a $250 credit associated with the American Express Business Platinum Card.
That $250 benefit is currently an Adobe credit, not the ChatGPT credit.
The Business Platinum Card currently advertises a separate $300 ChatGPT Business credit and a $250 Adobe credit. Mixing those two benefits up can make it look like Amex is offering $250 toward ChatGPT when that isn’t the current advertised benefit.
How to Use the Benefit
The basic process is straightforward:
- Log in to your American Express account and find the ChatGPT Business benefit for your eligible Business Platinum Card.
- Enroll in the benefit before making your qualifying purchase.
- Sign up for an eligible ChatGPT Business subscription.
- Pay for the eligible U.S. purchase with your enrolled Business Platinum Card.
- Look for the applicable statement credit from American Express.
Always read the current Amex terms before purchasing, since benefits, eligibility requirements and subscription pricing can change.
ChatGPT Plus vs. ChatGPT Business
ChatGPT Plus is primarily an individual subscription. At its current $20-per-month price, it costs $240 for 12 months before applicable taxes.
ChatGPT Business is designed for work and organizations and includes business-oriented features such as a shared workspace, administrative controls and connections to company tools.
That distinction matters because the American Express credit is specifically advertised for ChatGPT Business.
The Bottom Line
If you already carry an eligible American Express Business Platinum Card and want ChatGPT for your business, don’t overlook the ChatGPT benefit.
American Express currently advertises up to $300 in ChatGPT Business statement credits per calendar year after enrollment. That’s different from the card’s $250 Adobe credit and different from the standard $20-per-month ChatGPT Plus subscription.
Before signing up, enroll through American Express and verify the latest terms to make sure your subscription and purchase qualify.
Card benefits, eligibility requirements, subscription pricing and terms can change. Check the current American Express and ChatGPT terms before making a purchase.
