A well-designed AI agent escalates with documented uncertainty rather than taking autonomous action. The escalation includes what the agent observed, what data it checked, which signals were inconclusive, and a recommended next step for the human analyst.
This is one of the most important design decisions in an AI SOC. The value of human oversight depends on what the agent hands off. A vague “needs review” escalation wastes analyst time. A detailed escalation with reasoning, evidence, and a clear question for the analyst is what separates effective AI SOC platforms from mediocre ones.
